art : bifocal

installation | july 2010

Bifocal is a projected slide photograph with more depth than one glance can show. Using a modified slide projector with a custom long throw lens, a photograph is shown on the wall of the gallery. The projector is placed on a pedestal about four feet off the ground, at a distance of about forty feet from the gallery wall. One photograph is displayed on the wall, while a second photograph is hidden in the projected light and comes in to focus in the middle of the room. As gallery visitors walk in front of the projector they discover the hidden image appearing on their clothes.
